ICGL welcomes new members

At the last ICGL meeting held on April 1st 2013 the Founding Members established the following criteria for ICGL membership: For the details of criteria, please see the details here. For the membership benefit, please see here.

A. Founder members

Those persons who initiated this Consortium and assumed its financing up to date by means of special contributions are the sole persons who have the right to be known as Founder Members. Founder Members will have right to vote, will have executive powers and will be part of the executive committee.

B. Regular members

It was decided that Regular Membership could be given to any person who is an owner of a gem testing and / or diamond grading laboratory and has a minimum of 5 years of running the gem laboratory in order to be eligible as a Regular Member. The person’s credentials will be checked by ICGL by consulting the national association to determine if it has any pertinent information.  If however, there is no gemological association or organization in existence in the applicant’s country, a person shall be eligible for regular membership if the application is sponsored by at least three members of this corporation.

C. Associate members

It was decided that this category shall consist of Gemmological Institutions, Gemmological Laboratories, Pvt. Ltd. Public Ltd, presented by person(s) belonging to such institutions who contribute to gemological development.  Membership in this category will be on a selective basis by the Executive Board (President, Secretary-General, Membership Coordinator). A representative of the Institute or laboratory will attend the meetings.  Associate members will have no voting rights. 

D. Honorary Members

It was decided that this category shall consist of those who have done dedicated work for the ICGL. It would be considered later by the Founding Members.

Resignation

Any member may resign from the consortium by giving written notice to the membership coordinator, and paying all dues to the end of the year.

Termination of membership
